OTCA 5.1 brings full semantic REST API and continues to improve its semantic coverage!

The newest version of our semantic annotation engine is ready to mine with more semantic capabilities, faster entities extraction and better cache management. Another important milestone is reached now that our REST API plan is complete with the addition of the linguistic annotation calls to the existing OTCA Manager REST API introduced in 5.0.
The team is happy to announce the availability of OpenText Content Analytics (OTCA) 5.1, ready for download from OpenText Knowledge Center. Look at the details below and let us know what you think.
German content support is now completed with these key additions:
- 2 knowledge bases for categorization: IPTC, for which we already support French, English and Spanish, and a brand new Business and Finance knowledge base;
- A sentiment analysis knowledge base;
- Automatic summarization;
- Improvements to existing concept and entity extractions.
Because not every content is created equal, we have added a new sentiment analysis knowledge base, specifically optimized for user generated content (UGC). Note that it is also now possible to build custom sentiment analysis knowledge bases on demand via our linguistic services for optimal results on very specific type of content.
Named entity extraction can now benefit from a brand new linguistic model to identify Events such as elections, tournaments and music festivals.
Several improvements has been made to the engine to ease up configuration for optimal results, depending on our client’s context. In particular:
- More control on the requests and responses to best fit the integration needs;
- Better control on our caching system through the JVM.
Significant performance improvements to our entity extractor, which was by far our most time consuming module. Significant enough to obtain faster response time even for requests asking also for several other types of annotations at the same time. Large semantic coverage spectrum has never been so fast for OTCA.
Finally, we are proud to offer a REST API for semantic annotation calls, in line with what’s becoming a clear consensus in the industry.
Check out the knowledge center for detailed release notes. The product page is a good starter for people not familiar with our product.
Hey, this is OTCA’s first blog post on this new platform (and my first ever post!). We would really like to know what you think. Suggestions or feedback of any kind are welcome and help us make better software together.
